Redesigning Lesson Creation

Turning a fragmented, time-consuming workflow into a self-service platform for teachers and content creators.

Outcome: 1- 4 hrs per topic (5 lessons), down from 10 -15 hrs per lesson.

The Challenge

Defining the core problem

Creating a single lesson was taking 10-15 hours.

The process was spread across four different platforms, involved repetitive manual work and required engineering support to make changes or publish content.

For teachers and content creators, this meant spending more time managing the process than creating the lessons.

Understanding the user

Before redesigning the interface, I needed to understand the workflow behind it.

“Editing a lesson felt like navigating a maze...”

Teacher Hannah - Lingumi

What I learned

Through my research, I identified several core challenges that hindered the creative process for Lingumi teachers and content creators.

01

Too much manual work

02

Difficult to find content

03

Limited flexibility

04

Engineering dependency

The results

1–4 hrs

to create a topic of five lessons.

Previously: 10–15 hrs to create 1 lesson

98%

of users required no additional training.

Flexibility

Users could customise activities and layouts more easily.

Self-serve

Teachers could create, edit, test and publish independently.

Reviews

What people say about the product

“This has been a real game-changer for me! I can create, test, and edit lessons all on my own, which has made the whole process so much easier.”

Luke Lampard – Creative Producer at NovaKids Inc.

“Being able to swiftly and easily adapt to different brand visuals has transformed my daily routine. I love that I can make these changes on my own without needing an engineer.”

Carol Wilson – Learning Designer at Rownd

“It's incredibly intuitive and easy to use. I can create and test a bunch of lessons in just a few hours without any extra help. This means I can now focus more on efficacious content creation.”

Reflection

What I learned

The biggest opportunity wasn't simply to redesign the interface. It was to rethink the workflow behind it.

By understanding where users were losing time and where the existing system created unnecessary dependencies, we were able to create a much more flexible, self-service experience.
